wjfe Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 I recall a recent thread about the cost of Ford car mats (the carpet type) I've just had one made by a carpet shop (run by a mate), for the first row of seats (it seems kids are unable to keep thier muddy feet on the smaller mats). I cut out a template from some lining paper and asked the shop to cut and bind a piece of black carpet. It looks great and covers the whole floor area behind the front seats with a little bit that goes under the front seats. Bill Quote
bigdaddy Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 Sounds Great,,,,,,so when is your mate going to make more and sell them to us :D P.S,,,,,,Mine are dark blue Quote
NikpV Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 can he add the eyelet holes or is there a way of doing that ourselves - I find that there is less chance of rubbish getting under if they are pinned down Quote
mumof4 Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 count me in....mine are beige and look awaful..can i have pink????? :D :D Quote
gerrypm Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 I am going to order car mats from ebay, but there are so many to chose from and what kind of quality are they?Has anyone bought car mats recently ? Quote
mumble_bee Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 heya I bought some mats off customcarwizard This is a Link to his ebay shop. I like the quality - they are decent. Delivery was shockingly quick. I just think they are abit pricey... also try getting the right colour - I got the grey ones but I think they were too dark.. no that it matters cause in a few months they'll be dark from kidmud anyway.. I have a dark grey interior, and they were STILL darker than that.. but I do like the quality overall and they arent one of those EBAYERS who wait for you to leave feedback before they do..I mean wth is that all about ? - you've paid for the item - you've received it - surely they should leave the appropriate feedback eg: payment received etc.. ?/rant Quote
gerrypm Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 Thanks for the information on car mats, I'll put through the order tonight. It will make the Galaxy look nice and clean ( well at least for a week !! ) Quote
jkspoff Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 I bought some black car mats off ebay for wifes scenic, they are very poor quality, lasted about 3 months before the drivers side got a hole in it. They were so thin that when you held them up to the light you could see through them ! You get what you pay for, then bought a full set from a Renault main dealer, excellent quality, plus colour matched and fit perfectly, with cut outs in all the right places, Quote
gerrypm Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 I just put an order through for car mats from customcarwizard,I paid Quote
Marky Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 Bite the bullet and order a set from Frauds...they do differnet colours tomatch your trim or you can go for the rubber ones with the ford logo!I plumped for the front rubber ones...about 20 quid and fit perfectly andsuper quality. Don't forget to barter with your friendly ford parts man..he'll give you 10% discount without too much creeping !!!! Quote
Guest Snooper601 Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 Bought a set of the cheapest Fraud mats then made a template from them.Used this to cut some mat shapes from some of those office chair carpet protectors, the thick ones with knobbles on the back. It's so tough I had to use a jigsaw to cut it! Voila, 1 set of ultra heavy duty car mats, 2 individual fronts and a global rear set. I use the ford cheapies under the mats to protect the original carpet further. Cheers Quote
Justice Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 My carpets in the back are stilll very clean, my daughter uses the seats to clean her shoes off as she's getting in  . Quote
mumof4 Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 I know that feeling well Justice!!!All 4 of mine do that..little rotters!!  Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 I know that feeling well Justice!!!All 4 of mine do that..little rotters!! ;) :D ..if you don't mind spending a bit of time, buy a rubber-backed bathroom carpet off a roll and trim it yourself to fit the car. Being designed for use in bathrooms, it doesn't rot easily when damp and it tends to last a long time. I did this when I had my Honda- lasted 19 years with no trouble and the original carpets were immaculate, as good as the day when the car was brand new.I did the same to the Scenic when I bought that but so far have resisted doing it with the Gal - I find that good quality rubber mats are OK as my kids are bigger and tend to realise that they should keep their dirty footwear off the small areas of unprotected carpet Quote
mumof4 Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 I'll give that a go..thanks for the tip! :P Quote
